Day 4: Shoveling

Last night we got 2-3 inches of slushy snow that my dad would describe as “slopmickle”.  Normally shoveling is Doug’s job, but he’s been working longer hours, so I decided today’s RAOK would be shoveling.

I shoveled our walk as well as the neighbor’s.  Wow does shoveling suck.

Day 3: Care Package

As I was searching the web for RAOK ideas, I came across Adopt A US Soldier.  I signed up and was matched with Thomas, who is stationed in Afghanistan.  We have exchanged emails, and for today’s RAOK I put together a care package for him.

I wonder how long it takes a package to get to Afghanistan?

Day 2: Message Bands

For Day 2, I wanted to do something random and inexpensive.  I decided to do some rubber kindness, inspired by this post from kindness girl.

I left most of them in various places in WalMart (around the baby soap, in cosmetics) and gave a couple to friends.  I felt very sneaky.  I hope someone finds them and feels that the world is a little kinder.

Day #1: Blessing my pastor

Well today is the day…the 40 day countdown begins!  I have been preparing over the past few weeks but I feel totally unprepared.

I decided to start off with a RAOK that has been on my mind since the beginning.  The pastor of the church I attend lives in one side of the metro area, but our church is on the other side, so he does a ton of driving.  So I decided to surprise him with a gas gift card.

It’s a pretty small thing but I hope it helps him know how important he is.

While I was buying the gift card, I also stopped to talk to a little girl who was buying donuts with her dad.  She was wearing pink from head to toe and proudly showed me her two pairs of pink socks.  A RAOK of sorts, but I probably would have talked to her anyway. 🙂
